Bright Doily

J. & P. COATS "KNIT-CRO-SHEEN," Art. A. 64: 1 ball of No. 1 White and 2 balls of No. 15-A Shaded Dk. Pinks.
Milwards Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.
Doily measures 19 1/2 inches in diameter.
CENTER MOTIF. . . Starting at center with Pink, ch 12. Join with sl st to form ring.
1st rnd: Ch 1, make 18 sc in ring. Join to first sc.
2nd rnd: Ch 1, sc in joining, in next sc make hdc, 3 dc and hdc; sc in next sc (petal -started); (sc in next sc, in next sc make hdc, 3 dc and hdc; sc in next sc-another petal started) 5 times. (6 petals started). Join to first sc of first petal.
3rd rnd: Ch 1, (sc in first sc of petal, hdc in next hdc, 2 dc in next dc, 3 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, hdc in next hdc, sc in last sc of petal) 6 times. Join.
4th rnd: Ch 1, (sc in first sc of petal and next hdc, hdc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, 5 dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, hdc in next 2 dc, sc in last 2 sts of petal) 6 times.
5th rnd: Sl st in each st around. Break off and fasten.
OUTER MOTIFS (make 12) . . . Work as for Center Motif until 4th rnd has been completed.
5th rnd: (Sc in first sc of petal and in next 5 sts, 2 sc in next 5 dc, sc in last 6 sts of petal) 6 times. Join, break off and fasten.
DOILY
1st rnd:
Picking up back loops only throughout, attach White to center sl st of any petal on Center Motif, ch 1, (sc in center sl st of petal, ch 15) 6 times. Join.
2nd rnd: Ch 3, dc in joining, * ch 7, 2 dc in center ch of next sp, ch 7, 2 dc in next sc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 7. Join to top of ch 3.
3rd rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc, ch 7, (dc in next 2 dc, ch 7) 11 times. Join as before.
4th rnd: Work as for 3rd rnd, making ch 9 (instead of ch-7).
5th rnd: Ch 3, dc between joining and next dc; dc in next dc, ch 11, (dc in next dc, dc between dc just used and next dc; dc in next dc, ch 11) 11 times. Join.
6th rnd: Ch 3, dc between joining and next dc; dc between last dc used and next dc;* dc in next dc, ch 11, dc in next dc, (dc between last dc used and next dc) twice. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 11. Join.
7th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc, dc between last dc used and next dc; dc in next 2 dc, ch 11, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around, ending as on 6th rnd. Join.
8th rnd: Ch 3, dc in next dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc, ch 11, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around, ending as before. Join.

12th rnd: Ch 3, 3 dc in joining, * dc in next 4 dc, cluster over next 3 dc, ch 5, cluster over next 3 dc, dc in next 4 dc, 4 dc in next dc, ch 3, 4 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 3. Join.
13th rnd: Ch 3, 3 dc in joining, * dc in next 5 dc, cluster over next 3 dc, ch 5, cluster over next 3 dc, dc in next 5 dc, 4 dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with 4 dc in last dc. Join.
14th rnd: Ch 3, cluster over next 4 dc, * cluster over next 5 dc, ch 13 (cluster over next 5 dc) twice; ch 9, cluster over next 5 dc. Repeat from * around, ending with ch 9. Join to tip of first cluster. Break off and fasten.
Now, join Outer Motifs to Doily as follows:
First Motif
1st rnd:
Attach White to 7th sc of any petal on Motif, ch 1, (sc in 7th sc of petal, ch 11, skip next 8 sc, sc in 16th sc of petal, ch 11) 6 times. Join (12 loops).
2nd rnd: Ch 1, (in next loop make 6 sc, ch 3 and 6 sc-scallop made) 9 times; make 3 joined scallops, joining first scallop to any ch-9 loop on Doily, the second scallop to next ch-13 loop on Doily and the third scallop to following ch-9 loop on Doily-to make a joined scallop, make 6 sc in loop on Motif, ch 1, join with sl st to designated loop on Doily, ch 1, 6 sc in same loop on Motif. Join, break off and fasten.
Next 10 Motifs: Work as for First Motif until 7 scallops on 2nd rnd have been made, to complete rnd make 5 joined scallops, joining first scallop to second scallop on previous motif, the second scallop to first scallop on previous motif, the third scallop to same ch-9 loop on Doily as last joined scallop on previous motif was joined to, the fourth scallop to next ch-13 loop on Doily and the fifth scallop to following ch-9 loop on Doily. Join, break off and fasten.
Last Motif: Work as for First Motif until first rnd has been completed.
2nd rnd: Make 2 joined scallops, joining them to First Motif, 5 scallops and 5 joined scallops, joining them to previous motif and Doily as before. Join, break off and fasten. Press.
