Mesh Square Crochet Doily Pattern

MATERIALS: Here is a pretty lacy round doily in crochet. It is made with number 30 mercerized crochet thread and a size 12 steel crochet hook. When finished it measures about 15 inches in diameter.
Abbreviations: ch (chain) inc (increase) sl st (slip stitch) lp (loop) tr (treble) dc (double crochet) sk (skip) sc (single crochet) sps (spaces) st (stitch) rnd (round).
Row 1: Ch 14, join with a sl st to form a ring, ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), 39 trs in the ring, sl st in top of ch 4 first made 40 in all.
Row 2: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), tr in each of next 2 trs, * ch 5, sk 1 tr of previous row, tr in each of next 3 trs, repeat from * around, sl st in top of ch 4 first made, there will be 10 solid sections and 10 open sps.
Row 3: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), tr in each of next 2 trs, ch 4, sc over ch 5 lp of previous row, ch 4, tr in each of next 3 trs, repeat around, sl st in top of ch 4 first made.
Row 4: Repeat row 2, having 9 chs between tr groups.
Row 5: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), tr in each of next 2 trs, * ch 5, tr in each of the third, 4th and 5th chs of the ch 9 lp, ch 5, tr in each of next 3 trs, repeat from * around, sl st in top of ch 4 first made.
Row 6: Repeat row 3.
Row 7: Repeat row 4, having 8 chs between the tr groups.
Row 8: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), dc in each tr and in each ch around, sl st in top of ch 3 first made.
Row 9: Sl st into next dc, which is the center dc of the 3 dcs at hand, ch 24, sc in next 10th dc of previous row, ch 5, turn, work 4 sps over the first 12 chs as follows: dc in next third ch to create the first sp, (ch 2, dc in next third ch) 3 times, there will be 12 chs unused. (Ch 5, turn, work 4 sps over the 4 sps just made) 3 times, this creates a block of four sps square. Ch 12, sc in next 10th dc of previous row, in the same manner as before, create the sccond block of four sps square. After the 19th block is completed, work the 20th block as follows: ch 9, dc in beginning of rnd, ch 2, dc in next third ch of the 12 unused chs, ch 2, turn, work 3 sps over the 9 chs, ch 5, turn, work 3 sps as before, dc in the next third ch of the 12 unused chs, ch 2, dc in the next third ch of the 12 unused chs, ch 2, and complete 3 sps as before, ch 5, turn, create 3 sps as before, ch 2, sl st in last of the 12 unused chs. This completes the last block of four sps square.
Row 10: Sl st to point of first block made, ch 17, sc in point of next block, repeat around, sl st in place of beginning.
Row 11: Ch 3 (counts as 1 dc), work 1 dc in every ch and in every sc around. There will be 360 dc in the rnd.
Row 12: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), tr in the next tr of previous row, (Note, the third tr of the group is made at the close of the row), * ch 7, sk 6 trs of previous row, tr in each of the next 3 trs, repeat from * around, ending with 1 tr in the last tr of previous row. Every alternate set of trs will be directly at the point of the filet square.
Row 13: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), tr in the next tr, ch 5, sc over ch 7 lp, ch 5, tr in each of next 3 trs, repeat around, end row same as row 12.
Row 14: Ch 4 (counts as 1 tr), tr in next tr, ch 9, tr in each of next 3 trs, repeat around, end row same as row 13.
Row 15: Repeat row 13.
Row 16: Repeat row 14, having 10 chs instead of 9.
Row 17: Repeat row 13, using 6 chs instead of 5.
Row 18: Repeat row 16, having 12 chs instead of 10.
Row 19: Repeat row 11. There will be 600 dc in all.
Row 20: Ch 1, sc in same place, sc in each of next 15 dc, ch 5, in the next 7th dc of previous row, work (dc, ch 2, dc), ch 5, in next or 8th dc of previous row, work (dc, ch 2, dc), ch 5, sc in the next 7th dc of previous row, repeat around, sl st in sc first made.
Row 21: Sl st into next sc of previous row, ch 1, sc in same place, sc in each of next 13 sc (there will be 1 sc remaining), ch 5, dc in the next dc, ch 2, dc in the next dc, ch 2, dc in the third ch (or center ch) of the ch 5 lp of previous row, (ch 2, dc in the next dc) twice, ch 5, sc in the second sc of next sc group.
Row 22: Continue as for row 21, having 12 sc, and increasing the intervening sp in the same manner as row 21.
Row 23: Same but 10 sc, and inc the intervening sp.
Row 24: Same but 8 sc, and inc the intervening sp.
Row 25: Same but 6 sc, and inc the intervening sp.
Row 26: Same but 4 sc, and inc the intervening sp.
Row 27: Same but 2 sc, and inc the intervening sp.
Row 28: Sl st over 2 sc and ch 5 lp into the following dc, ch 5 (the first 3 chs count for 1 dc at the closce of rnd), dc in next dc of previous row, (ch 7, dc in top of dc just made, dc in next dc of previous row, ch 2, dc in next dc of previous row) 4 times, ch 7, dc in top of last dc just made, dc in same place of previous row (this is at the point of the scallop), (ch 2, dc in next dc of previous row, ch 7, dc in top of dc just made, dc in next dc of previous row) 4 times, ch 2, a two-joined dc over the last dc of this scallop and the first dc of the next scallop, which closes the point, repeat around, end with sl st in third ch of ch 5 first made.
